Bless Me, Ultima
El Paso hadn’t seen a Hollywood style red carpet event since it’s cinema heyday in the 1940’s and Barracuda had the honor of bringing the magic of Hollywood back to El Paso. The Sun City was selected as the test market for the film adaptation of Rudolfo Anaya’s famous novel, “Bless Me, Ultima.“ The film premiered in El Paso at #2 in our local box office and extended its two-week test run to one month. Barracuda facilitated “Bless Me, Ulitma’s” world premiere at the Plaza Theatre and orchestrated the red carpet event that featured stars arriving in 40’s era vehicles with live red carpet coverage by all El Paso media. Barracuda created an El Paso Luxury Living event to celebrate the grand opening of Santi Dwellings at Montecillo—El Paso’s first smart growth community. Guests were invited to live the Montecillo Lifestyle for a night as they toured units designed by local furniture stores, Charlotte’s and Copenhagen and nibbled on cuisine from the restaurants at TIME at Montecillo. All residents of Santi enjoy several luxurious scene-setting community amenities such as multiple-level terraces, three of which feature outdoor fireplaces, a rooftop theatre and an infinity pool overlooking Mt. Cristo Rey. A front-page story didn’t hurt matters either.
Sierra Providence Health Network (SPHN) and Texas Tech University Health
Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso broke ground on the new multi-million dollar teaching hospital and medical office building (MOB) in far West El Paso and Barracuda was on board to break the story to local media and we organized a groundbreaking event to celebrate this momentous occasion for our city. The ceremony marked the beginning of the construction of the 140-bed teaching hospital that will become the fourth acute care hospital in the Sierra Providence Health Network (SPHN). The new hospital will provide an educational site for medical students, nursing students, resident physicians and faculty from TTUHSC El Paso and will eventually offer training for approximately 75 medical residents across a multi-year program.
Barracuda worked with River Oaks Properties to announce a $200 million five-year investment plan to build new shopping and retail centers throughout El Paso. This major investment was kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony for a new grocery anchored power center in Northeast El Paso. The ceremony marked the beginning of the construction for the $45 million investment project that is the first large retail development in Northeast El Paso in decades. The project is expected to be completed in 2015 and will generate over 700 jobs in retail and construction.
Aerialists, fire breathers and girls on hoops hanging from the ceiling is the kind of party Barracuda threw to commemorate the grand opening of the initial phase of TI:ME at Montecillo, a “third place” venue that consists of nine specialty shops and three restaurants, all of which are locally owned and operated.
Barracuda created a “Stacking of the Box” ceremony to welcome downtown’s newest coffee shop called Coffee Box. Guests witnessed the beginning of Coffee Box’s shipping container construction as crews stacked a shipping container, AKA their second floor, to their coffee shop as dignitaries welcomed the new shop to downtown El Paso. When all is said and done, Coffee Box will be a two level coffee shop with an outdoor patio area that will provide catered coffee service to downtown businesses and residents.
We love opening El Paso up to franchises and we did just that when we announced that the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is coming to El Paso! Alamo opted for a Hollywood-style foundation ceremony complete with red carpet and wet cement blocks for our dignitaries to make their “impression” on El Paso’s Alamo Drafthouse. View Alamo Drafthouse
